Once reserved for professional athletes and sports teams, these powerful modalities are now accessible to anyone seeking a natural, effective way to move better, recover faster, and feel more energised in their daily lives.

INFRARED SAUNA

Many people associate saunas with “just sweating” or “burning calories,” but these are secondary to the profound health benefits regular sauna use can provide.

While the ideal sauna session length can vary for each individual, a 20-minute session is generally a good starting point. At Airlie Beachfit, our sauna bookings are available in 30-minute blocks. For those looking to enhance their experience, double bookings are welcome, allowing you to follow up your sauna session with red light therapy. For this, the temperature is adjusted to a comfortable 40°C, creating the perfect environment for recovery and rejuvenation.

Red Light Therapy

The Clearlight Red Light Therapy Tower delivers specific wavelengths of light that our body absorbs. These wavelengths stimulate our bodies production of ATP (AdenosineTriphosphate) which boosts cellular regeneration.This increased cellular regeneration greatly enhances cell functioning and health, and results in numerous wellness benefits for the body.

The Clearlight Red Light Therapy Tower can be used while seated in the sauna or while standing in front of the tower which concentrates its beneficial power on targeted areas of the body.

Halotherapy (Salt Therapy)

Salt therapy is a natural form of treatment that involves the inhalation of salt-rich air, and is seen as an effective treatment for respiratory problems, skin conditions, mood regulation, hay fever, sinusitis and even assistance with anxiety, stress and sleep problems. Research suggests that the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory nature of salt inhalation is a natural form of treatment for common illnesses, and is a valuable form of alternative treatment.

The primary health benefits of salt room therapy can be found in the claims of respiratory improvements, particularly for individuals suffering from asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis and hay fever. These health benefits are said to be the result of salt-rich air targeting impurities, toxins and pathogens inside our respiratory system, which allows our body to more easily expel them and clean out our airways. This is also said to tackle snoring while we’re asleep.

The anti-inflammatory health benefits of salt room therapy are said to extend to skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, while the antibacterial effects of salt therapy are said to increase our immune system and reduce the chance of catching a cold or a flu.

It’s said that the health benefits of salt therapy can be unlocked in a single session. Depending if you’re opting for the wet or dry method of salt therapy, you may notice improvements in your respiratory system, skin quality or even mood in the immediate period after a visit to a salt therapy room or clinic. It’s recommended that you stagger your salt therapy treatments into small, but regular treatments, to minimise the chance of an adverse reaction from a salt overload.

In terms of salt therapy being harmful, the only real consideration is that it should not be recognised as a primary form of treatment. It’s essential to remember that salt therapy is a form of complementary treatment that should not replace any medication you’re taking, or constitute a primary form of treatment for respiratory conditions or mood disparities.

It is not recommended that pregnant women inhale salt-rich air for a prolonged period of time, largely due to the fact that most salt rooms vary in their concentration of salt-rich air. Remember to always hydrate your body before spending time in a salt room or sitting in a salt bath, and remember to monitor your body for any adverse reactions while you’re inside.

Our ODIN XL Ice Bath can can be set all the way down to 0 degree`s celsius which effectively makes it`s own ice. This is NOT recommended for anyone new to the protocols of cold plunging and anywhere from 5 degree`s celsius to 10 degree`s celsius is known to deliver benefits.

There are many varied protocols of cold plunging, and below are a few to consider:

  • 2-3 times per week has been deemed sufficient   
  • Single sessions can be broken up into intervals between 3-5 minutes
  • Cold-Water immersion pre-workout for 2-3 minutes to stimulate the nervous system and increase focus and energy levels
  • Warming up naturally is generally recommended 
  • Those looking at hypertrophy and strength training goals, should limit the use of ice baths especially post-workout. 

Who should avoid cold plunging? 

  • Anyone pregnant should limit the temperature to 15 degree`s celsius and above for only a few minutes
  • Known heart disease or heart conditions
  • People taking medications such as beta blockers to lower blood pressure
  • Anyone diagnosed with Pulmonary Edema
